Elisabeth entered her house quietly. "Hey, honey, I forgot your class was over!" Mom said, "I was going to go pick you up!". Elisabeth smiled. "That's okay, Mom. I walked home with Marie." "Okay." Mom grinned. "Dinner's ready," They both walked into the dining room. Elisabeth pulled a chair out for her mom and herself. They both ate dinner. Skits woke up and ran down from upstairs. He smelled the food curiously and jumped into Elisabeth's lap. "Oh, Skits!" exclaimed Elisabeth. She hugged him and held him tight. "Elisabeth," her mom gave her a knowing look but told her to put Skits back down on the ground. "May I go up to my room now, Mom?" asked Elisabeth. "Of course, honey! Anything you want to do right now is fine with me!" Mom assured her. Elisabeth nodded and ran upstairs to her room. She took down her long, auburn hair and brushed and combed it. Her hair was straight, but somewhat wavy too. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at herself. She saw the pink, rosy cheeks and light-green eyes, but then she saw her blue braces on her teeth. Oh no. The dreaded, blue braces that had come from the dentist's office last year. She wanted to take them off again like she had 11 months ago. But she remembered how her teeth went crooked, towards each other again. She sighed. "I wish my teeth were so perfectly straight and so pearly white as Marie's!" cried Elisabeth. She closed her door and sobbed on her bed. Outside, the sky clouded up with dark clouds and drearily started to rain.

Just before 8:00 p.m., Elisabeth decided to go downstairs to see what Mom was up to. She quietly slipped downstairs, watching cautiously around herself. There, in the rocking chair, was her mother, sleeping. Elisabeth ran over to her mother and wondered why she was sleeping. She should be cooking dinner right now, thought Elisabeth. Elisabeth shook her mother by the shoulders. "Mom, wake up! You're supposed to be making dinner! I'm hungry! Wake up!" Her mother did not stir at all in her sleep or anything. "Oh no!" cried Elisabeth, "I hope she's not........dead! And I went up to my room to cry over my braces! Oh dear!" She pounded on her mother's shoulders one more time. Elisabeth gave up all hope, and decided her mother was gone. Suddenly, she saw something flash or blink. She turned towards her mother. Her mother opened her eyes. "Oh, what's wrong, honey?" Elisabeth told her the story. Afterwards, she hugged her mother and cried hard.

Writers Corner: It took forever to write all of this! >.< I had to go outside and do some things, come back in, eat dinner, think up the story, and a lot more stuff! Thanks for reading, though! I tried my best!
